Section 8
The final section will be headline by former world No.1 Djokovic. Fresh off winning the Eastbourne International, his first grass-court title outside of Wimbledon, the Serbian will play Martin Klizan in the first round. The second seed entered the draw will question marks over his head after a somewhat lackluster past couple of months.
“Coming into Wimbledon, I’m hoping that I can continue in this path of raising the performance and the quality of tennis,” said Djokovic.
“Grand Slams are different from any other tournament, but a tournament is a tournament. For a top player to go out on the court, regardless of the level of competition or the category of the event you always expected to deliver.”
Later in the first week, Djokovic could also experience a mouthwatering clash with Juan Martin del Potro, providing both men reach the third round. The two players have already played each other three times this year with Djokovic winning all of them.
Feliciano Lopez and Gael Monfils headline the other end. Lopez recently triumph at the Aegon Open by defeating Cilic in three sets. Meanwhile, Monfils reach the final in Eastbourne (losing to Djokovic). Another interesting outsider in that part of the section is Yuichi Sugita, who has won both Challenger and ATP titles on the grass this season.
