Croatia’s Bruno Soares and Croatia’s Mate Pavic got through to their second consecutive Grand Slam final after a 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 win over Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the doubles semifinal at Roland Garros.
After winning the tie-break of the first set Soares and Pavic came back from 2-4 down to win the second set 7-5. They will bid to win their second consecutive doubles title at Grand Slam as a team after claiming their trophy at last month’s US Open.
Pavic and Soares have a win-loss record of 2-1 in their previous ATP Tour finals as a team. They claimed their maiden title at the Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai ald lost to Henri Kontinen and Edouard Roger Vasselin at last year’s Stockolm Open.
The 2020 US Open champion set up a final against defending champions Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies from Germany, who converted both break points in their 6-3 7-5 win over Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic.
Pavic and Soares beat Krawietz and Mies 7-6 (7-2) 4-6 10-7 win in their only head-to-head match at the 2019 Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.
