Medvedev reacts to top 10 debut
Another top 10 newcomer is Russia’s Daniil Medvedev. The 23-year-old achieved the milestone on Monday after contesting three finals on the ATP Tour so far in 2019. In February he claimed his fourth ATP trophy at the Sofia Open in Bulgaria. More recently, at Wimbledon he reached the third round before losing to David Goffin in five sets.
“I am very proud to reach this step in my career. Some years ago I changed my life and really dedicated myself to this sport and the results have shown this,” Medvedev told atptour.com. “This is hopefully the first step of many more goals. I am looking forward to the second half of the season.”
Within a 52-week period, Medvedev has won 54 matches. The fourth-best amount achieved by a player on the ATP Tour within that period.
