Svetlana Kuznetsova’s preparation for the US Open isn’t going to plan. In fact, she is yet to receive her visa. Despite applying for one back in February. It is unclear as to why the application is taking so long.

“February waiting for my US visa. Should I ask @realdonaldtrump for a help? Really want to go to play US swing tournaments.” Kuznetsova recently wrote on Instagram.

Shamil Tarpischev, who is the head of Russian Tennis, has described the current situation as ‘strange.’ Speaking with Sport Express, he confirmed that ITF president David Haggerty has now sent a letter to the American embassy asking for the situation to be resolved. Tarpischev said that he has managed to obtain an American visa ‘with difficulty, but they give him one.’

Kuznetsova is a former US Open champion. Furthermore, six out of her 18 WTA titles have been won in the county. Including her most recent at the Citi Open last August.
