Jelena Jankovic beat Anna Tatashvili 6-4 6-2. Jankovic got a double break in the fifth and the seventh games. Jankovic served out for the set but Tatashvili saved a set point. In the 10th game Jankovic closed out on his third set point with an ace. Jankovic had to save three break points at the start of the second set before taking control of the match. She sealed the win with a double break in the third and in the seventh games
Alison Van Uytvanck from Belgium knocked out Ana Ivanovic with 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 7-5. The Belgian player, who reached the quarter finals at this year’s Roland Garros, won 10 points to one to go up a break. Ivanovic saved another break point but dropped her serve in the seventh game. Ivanovic saved three set points before recovering from one of the two breaks but Van Uytvanck won her next service game to win the first set. In the seventh game of the second set Ivanovic dropped her serve. Ivanovic broke back. Van Uytyanck earned three break point chances but Ivanovic saved them. The Belgian went up a mini-break in the tie-break but Ivanovic ht five forehand winners to win the set. Van Uytyanck clinched the win with a break in the 12th game
German lucky loser Laura Siegemund beat Kirsten Flipkens with 7-6 (7-2) 6-1 to reach the quarter finals at the Luxemburg Indoor Open. She qualified as a lucky loser before reaching the second round when Timea Bacsinskiy retired injured
