Paula Badosa continued her recent resurgence by winning a ninth consecutive match to reach the Iasi final.

The Spaniard has suffered her fair share of injuries in recent times but has never given up on her dreams as there has been a strong response in return.

That has once again proved the case as Badosa has been on fire in this mini-clay court season after Wimbledon.

After a first round exit to Emma Navarro at Wimbledon, Badosa has responded with nine consecutive as she won the Bastad title last week.

That has been followed up with four wins in Iasi as she is now into the final in Romania after defeating Tamara Zidansek 3-6 7-5 7-6(1) in an epic semi-final clash.

Badosa is currently ranked 115 in the world but the final in Iasi means she will climb up 22 places to 93 in the world as it stands.

A title in Iasi and Badosa will rise up inside the world’s top 80 which would guarantee the 28 year-old a place at this year’s US Open.

Next up for Badosa will be Mayar Sherif in what is Badosa’s sixth WTA final of her career.

Sakkari Continues Family Tradition

40 years after her mother achieved the feat, Maria Sakkari is into the Athens final as she bids for home glory on Sunday.

Sakkari has yet to drop a set in Athens so far having defeated Polina Kudermetova, Harriet Dart, Alycia Parks and Alina Korneeva.

Now, Sakkari will face two-time Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova in the final after the third seed at this week’s tournament defeated Clara Tauson in three sets.

Should Sakkari win the title it would be her third WTA title of her career and her first achieved in Europe.
