The world number 42 booked her spot in the final and a chance to take home the gold medal after beating the world number six Elina Svitolina.

Marketa Vondrousova has officially confirmed she will be leaving Tokyo with a medal after beating the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the semifinals 6-3, 6-1 in 64 minutes hitting 15 winners in the match while her opponent hit 29 unforced errors in the loss.

It was indeed the Czech who got off to a faster start breaking the world number six in the opening game of the match but not before getting broken the very next game.

At 2-2, the Czech once again had a chance to break to take another lead with two more break points but the Ukrainian saved both but double-faulted two points in a row to give the crucial break.

That break was all the world number 42 needed to serve out the first set and she continued to take control of the match early in the second set holding the opening service game and breaking once again the very next game.

At 4-1 the Sokolov, Czech Republic native had a chance to go up a double break and serve for the match and the win, and she did just that to book her spot in the final against the Swiss Belinda Bencic.

The Czech holds a 1-0 record in the head-to-head against the Swiss and that meeting was actually in Miami back in March with Vondrousova getting the win in three tight sets.
