Twenty-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer urged people to stay at home and follow the guidelines of the local government to fight against the global coronavirus pandemic. The Swiss legend is at home in Switzerland, as he underwent knee surgery last February.
Over 4800 people have been tested positive to the coronavirus in Switzerland and hospitals are reaching the limits of their capacity.
Federer was planning to make his come-back in Halle, but the grass season is in doubt due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
“I am also staying home and I haven’t been shaking anybody’s hands for quite some time. I believe helping each other is more important now than ever. Especially because we want to help the older generation. They are the ones at highest risk and we need to help them by keeping a distance of two metres and not shake hands. It’s really important to take these rules seriously”, said Federer in his message.
