The WTA have announced a new streaming service called ‘WTA TV’ and will be launched on the 31st of July. The news finally comes after leaving WTA fans in the dark for months about a new streaming service.
Today’s news comes after WTA fans had to wait six months for a brand new streaming service as they declined to use Tennis TV as a platform to stream their matches. As a result Tennis TV was used to stream ATP matches only, with a much bigger library of videos. Now, after six months of waiting WTA fans can now watch their favourite matches on a streaming service called ‘WTA TV’ which will be launched on the 31st of July, this Monday.
The WTA have released some details of the move, ‘An annual subscription to WTA TV will provide access to nearly 2,000 live and on-demand matches from all WTA premier events and the majority of WTA international events. All singles matches will be streamed along with an array of doubles matches. The new WTA TV will allow you to watch matches from all around the world.’ However there is one down side to the streaming service as they explained, ‘The only exception is China, where our partner, iQIYI, holds exclusive rights and offers an extensive service throughout China.’
The new service will include the following:
- HD Streaming
- Ability to watch matches simultaneously
- Multiple camera locations on each court
- All singles matches will have English commentary
- Pause and rewind functions
The pricing of the service will be $9.99 (£7.51) per month and $74.99 (£58.60) for a year. The service will launch when tournaments in Washington and Stanford start next week.
