7. Jan Hajek
The other Czech, Jan Hajek, had a worse career than Damm. He was mainly a Challenger player throughout his career, peaking at No. 71 in 2006. He won one ATP title in doubles, Doha 2014 with Tomas Berdych. Hajek’s huge win over former World No. 4 Sebastien Grosjean came in 2010, at the Sunrise Challenger in Florida. Prior to the match, Grosjean played 4 tournaments in 2010, getting only one win. Grosjean is a Florida resident, hence his decision to end his singles career in the area. He had been plagued by knee and arm injuries and lost to Hajek 2-6 7-6 0-6. Today, Grosjean co-coaches Richard Gasquet with Sergi Bruguera, and is also a coach at the Chris Evert Academy in Boca Raton. Hajek retired from tennis in 2015, and has sort of fallen off the grid. He isn’t on any social media, and hasn’t announced that he is coaching anyone.
