8. Robin Haase
Haase was a promising junior, reaching up to No. 3 in the junior generation of Chardy, Cilic and Querrey. He peaked at No. 33 in 2012 and has 2 ATP titles under his belt so far. Yet to move past the 3rd round, Haase is still waiting for his big run at the majors. Surprisingly enough, the biggest win of his career came at Roland Garros, ending the career of former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko. Haase had the chance to beat a big player before, he had leads over the likes of Nadal and Murray, but never got it done. Davydenko was struggling in his last season, and didn’t plan for his loss to Haase to be his last match. The Dutch player won easily 7-5 6-4 6-2 over Davydenko, who took the grass season off to figure out if he can keep playing. He decided that Roland Garros would be his last tournament, and announced his retirement during the ATP even in Moscow, where he was given a proper send-off. Davydenko is now spending time with his wife and daughter, while the 29-year old Haase is still on the tour.
