Richard Gasquet has pulled out of the Doha Exxon Mobil ATP 250 Tournament due to a back injury. After a successful season in which he won the Estoril title on clay and reached his third Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon and the quarter final at Paris Bercy, the French star suffered a back injury which forced him to withdraw from the IPTL. Gasquet ended the 2015 season in the top ten for the first time since 2013.
Gasquet won the Doha title in 2013 beating Nikolay Davydenko. Gasquet had already missed most of the clay season in 2014 because of a back injury. He returned to the court at the French Open but injury problems continued to affect him in the final part of the 2014 season.
Gasquet hopes to recover in time for the Australian Open which starts from 18th January.
The Doha tournament which starts on 4th January will feature Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal. Djokovic suffered one of the very few defeats of a very successful 2015 season when he lost to Ivo Karlovic in the quarter finals. Nadal, winner in Doha in 2013, was upset by German Mchael Berrer in three sets in the first round
