World number one Angelique Kerber has become the new ambassador for Australian nutrition company Slim Secrets.
The German is set to be the most high profile international sporting star to ever collaborate with the company. Kerber will begin her role next month during the Australian swing of the WTA Tour in January as she prepares for the first grand slam of the new season.
“I am incredibly excited to have this opportunity to partner with such a positive, health forward brand.” Kerber said about the new partnership.
Slim Secrets is an Australian-based supplement/nutrition company which was founded in 2005 and now trades across 15 countries. Specialising in a series of high protein and low sugar items, they state that all of their items are gluten free and contains no artificial sweeteners. Founder Sharon Thurin spoke highly about the achievements of Kerber throughout 2016.
“Angelique has quickly become a well-loved tennis player. She is a great role model for the health and fitness industry and an inspiration for women portraying a healthy body image. We are beyond excited that we have such a well-recognised global athlete on board. Our philosophy is to promote a healthy lifestyle and Angelique absolutely exudes this.” Said Thurin.
“She has obviously worked very hard to become number one and get where she is today and that includes fuelling her body with the best. This new alliance will go a long way in establishing Slim Secrets as one of the leaders in the healthy snack food industry, as well as exposing our brand to an international market and sporting community, allowing us unprecedented global reach.”
Slim Secrets achieves an average yearly turnover of $2 million, according to the Australian website Smart Company, a modest amount compared to other renowned sponsors such as Nike and Uniqlo.
Kerber’s partnership with Slim Secrets was secured with the help of marketing and brand strategy company Talent Resources. CEO Mike Heller believes the two-time grand slam champion will be the perfect ambassador.
“We couldn’t imagine a better ambassador for this. Angelique embodies the philosophy and spirit that Slim Secrets is built on. We look forward to working with these two leaders in their respective fields.” He said.
In September Kerber also secured a deal the Generali Group, the third biggest insurance company in the world. She also has sponsorships with Yonex and Adidas.
