In the round-up of latest news the ATP are set to take action on ball changes in a bid to minimalize injuries.

There have been multiple complaints from both ATP and WTA over the inconsistencies of the tennis balls that are used.

Some are heavy and some are light and this has been tough for players to adapt to with this causing constant strain on the body.

The proof in this is the amount of injuries on the tour with the likes of Jack Draper, Lorenzo Musetti, Arthur Fils and Carlos Alcaraz suffering injuries.

As a result, the ATP are going to trial new changes on the Challenger tour to try and stop these injuries from happening.

Instead of changing balls after seven games in the first instance, they will change balls after five games and then will change balls after every seven games instead of every nine games.

The aim of this change is to ensure that the balls are in their original condition for as long as possible.

Time will tell whether this change will actually have an effect on the lack of injuries but this is a certainly a positive reaction with these changes expected to appear on the main tour soon.
