Jack Draper spoke about how inspirational Andy Murray has been as he made a successful start to their partnership.
The three-time Grand Slam champion is now aiding Draper’s comeback as the Brit played his first match in two months on Monday.
It was a winning return for Draper who overcame Marcos Giron 6-4 7-6 and is into the second round in Eastbourne.
The Brit will now face compatriot and good friend Jack Pinnington Jones after Pinnington Jones saved match point to defeat Marco Trungelliti.
After the match Draper reflected on his new coach and how he has shaped his career, “Andy, truthfully, is one of my biggest inspirations,” Draper told the ATP website.
“When I was younger, I remember him playing all of the big events. When I came onto the Tour, we spent some time together and we have a great relationship off the court. He believes in my game. He believes in me as a person. That’s what I really need right now, coming back from the year I’ve had.”
Draper will be hoping that he can reach the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career when the tournament takes place next week.
