Sunday features third round action from both the men’s and women’s singles draws.

Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Alexander Zverev have all won this title before, but none of them came into this event as the favorite.  All three are eager to gain momentum on Sunday, just two weeks before the year’s next Major begins.  And with Aryna Sabalenka’s early loss on Saturday, the women’s draw is now especially open.

Here’s a rundown of the most notable matches on Sunday (in chronological order, all times local):

Elina Svitolina (7) vs. Hailey Baptiste (32) – 11:00am on Campo Centrale

Svitolina is a strong 24-7 on the year, and she won this title back in both 2017 and 2018.  Yet after excelling on hard courts to begin this season, she’s gone just 3-2 on clay.  Baptiste is coming off the biggest tournament of her career in Madrid, where she advanced to her first WTA 1000 semifinal thanks to back-to-back thrilling victories over Belinda Bencic and Aryna Sabalenka.  And earlier this year in Miami, Baptiste upset Svitolina in straights.  Their only other prior clash occurred at this same tournament a year ago, when Svitolina won in three.

Alexander Blockx vs. Alexander Zverev (2) – Not Before 1:00pm on Campo Centrale

This is a rematch from the semifinals just last week in Madrid, when Zverev defeated Blockx in straights.  Like Baptiste, that was a first 1000-level semifinal for Blockx, a 21-year-old Belgian who was making just his fifth appearance in a Masters event.  And he’s already followed-up that result with a pair of three-set wins this week in Rome, including over 29th-seeded Tallon Griekspoor.  Zverev is a two-time champion of this tournament, yet the German now hasn’t won a title in over a year, and was thumped in the Madrid final by Jannik Sinner.

Lorenzo Musetti (8) vs. Francisco Cerundolo (25) – Not Before 3:00pm on Campo Centrale

Musetti is the Italian No.2, but he’s only gone 12-6 during 2026, as he’s battled multiple injuries.  On Friday, he beat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-4, 6-4.  Musetti has split two previous meetings with Cerundolo, both of which occurred on clay.  This season, Cerundolo has been the better performer, with a record of 20-9.  And he dropped only two games in his opening round.

Alexandra Eala vs Elena Rybakina (2) – Not Before 4:00pm on BNP Paribas Arena

Rybakina is 28-6 this season, and already won a clay court title a few weeks ago in Stuttgart.  She comfortably claimed her opening round match on Friday against Maria Sakkari.  Eala is 18-11 on the year, but she’s still learning her way on clay, a surface where she has only won seven tour-level matches in her young career, though two of those victories came this week.  This will be their first meeting.

Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs. Iga Swiatek (4) – Not Before 7:00pm on Campo Centrale

Swiatek survived quite a test in her opening round from Caty McNally, eventually prevailing 6-3 in the third.  Cocciaretto is a 25-year-old Italian who won her first two rounds in straights, including against Emma Navarro.  In the second round of this tournament last year, Swiatek crushed Cocciaretto by a score of 6-1, 6-0.

Matteo Arnaldi vs. Rafael Jodar (32) – Not Before 8:30pm on Campo Centrale

Jodar won his opening match in straights, as he continues his rapid rise in the rankings.  The 19-year-old started the year ranked 165th, but is now on the verge of debuting inside the top 30, thanks to 30 match wins at all levels.  Arnaldi is another 25-year-old Italian who already earned two impressive victories this week, over Jaume Munar and Alex de Minaur.  A former top 30 player himself, Arnaldi has missed a lot of time of late due to a foot injury, but he did win a Challenger title last week on clay.  This is another first-time encounter.
