Carlos Alcaraz is aiming for improvement in his rivalry against Jannik Sinner as they clash in the Cincinnati final on Monday.
The Spaniard leads the head-to-head 8-5 against the world number one but lost the Wimbledon final to the Italian.
It’s a crucial match for Alcaraz who booked his place in the final with a straight sets win over an ill Alexander Zverev.
The final will see Alcaraz having the chance to end Sinner’s 26 match winning streak on hard courts in the Spaniard’s bid to end the year world number one.
Speaking ahead of the final Alcaraz is searching for improvement against Sinner in what should be another classic match, “I’m really looking forward to playing against him once again,” Alcaraz claimed to the ATP website.
“We raise our level to the top and we bring a really beautiful tennis to the match. I’m ready to take the challenge. I’m ready to see the things that I did wrong in the last match and trying to be better on that side on Monday.”
Meanwhile, Sinner reached Monday’s showdown by ending Terence Atmane’s magical run in Ohio in straight sets.
Sinner is looking to defend the title in Cincinnati while Alcaraz is searching for his first title in Cincinnati.
Whatever the outcome on Monday, the world number one ranking will be up for grabs at the US Open with Sinner defending the title in New York while Alcaraz only has 50 points to defend.
