It was the 39 year old who had the first chance to take the lead in the first set after both players held their opening service games comfortably but the world number 50 did an even better job saving all three and holding serve.
The Saginaw, Michigan native had another chance to break at 3-3 and she would earn the first crucial break of the match and serve out the first set to take it 6-4 in 41 minutes.
The world number eight continued to roll in the beginning of the second set and earned a chance to break in the first game, she broke to take an early 1-0 lead. However the St Petersburg, Florida native responded the following game by earning three breakpoints of her very own and break right back to go back on serve.

At 4-2 the world number eight would fight back to earn a breakpoint and break back to go back on serve and after holding serve won a second consecutive game and served out the match.
After her match in her post match interview on court she was asked about how much inspiration she gives to other people who look up to her most notably young tennis players.
“I don’t think about it too much because I am still playing, I hopefully feel good to be an inspiration and continue to be an inspiration, I just really enjoy my time and In general I always try to have fun”.
