The 2020 Laver Cup will take place in Geneva it has been announced and will take place from the 20th to the 22nd of September.
This year’s competition will take place in Chicago as Team Europe prepare to defend their title against Team World with the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios and Juan Martin Del Potro set to take part in this year’s competition. The new format really caused a global viewing when it took shape in Prague last year and is set to do the same in America this year.
However after Chicago has hosted Tennis’ version of the Ryder Cup, it will be Geneva’s turn to host the new and exciting format it has been announced. The news has gone down very well with Switzerland’s own Roger Federer, who told French website L’Equipe just how excited he is for the competition to be in Geneva in 2019, “The moment when Geneva said to be interested, it is there that I began to dream,” Federer explained.
“To tell me that it would be something incredible, It’s fabulous for the end of my career. I will try to talk to all possible players, so that we have the best team possible with Stan, Novak, Rafa, Murray, everyone. All young people too, see who is interested. But in any case I’m going to do my best.”
This year’s competition will take place between the 21st to the 23rd of September.
