Local pole Michal Przysiezny has had an amazing week in Wrocław can he continue his form into the semifinals today?
It’s no coincidence that I profiled Przysiezny earlier this week and he reaches the semifinals in his local tournament in Wrocław. A brilliant win for the 34 year old in the second round against world number 101 Lukas Lacko, was followed by his 6-3 6-4 quarterfinal win over Mirza Basic. The pole hit 12 aces en route to a sensational victory. His backhand was firing on all cylinders and produced some phenomenal tennis. It was great to see and no wonder his fans want to see these kind of performances on a regular basis.
He will have his hands full today as he will fourth seed and inform Quentin Halys in the semifinals. The talented Frenchman beat Czech Republican Petr Michnev 7-6(5) 6-2 in the quarterfinals yesterday, Halys converted three break point opportunities to break down a stubborn Michnev. The 20 year old will hope for his second challenger final in a row after reaching the Bergamo final last week losing to Jerzy Janowicz. It will be a tough match for Przysiezny, but with the help of the crowd hopefully he can get through this contest.
The other semifinal will be contested between Paul-Henri Matthieu and Jurgen Melze, conqueror of Jerzy Janowicz. Matthieu saw off Jonathan Eysseric 6-2 6-4, while Melzer edged out Kenny De Schepper 6-4 6-4. The semifinals will take place at 2pm local time.
