Agnieszka Radwanska couldn’t of asked for better preparation for the US Open following her 6-1, 7-6(3), win over Elina Svitolina in the final of the Connecticut Open.

The world No.4 was once again in devastating form as she dominated the opening set to close it out in just 30 minutes. Radwanska did face tougher resistance in the second set after dropping her serve three times against Svitolina, who defeated Serena Williams at the Olympic Games in Rio. Despite the test, the 27-year-old carefully guided her way to the title with the help of her 28 winners.

“Every title means a lot,” Radwanska said after winning her 19th WTA trophy.
“I’m so happy to get another one, especially in a place I’ve never won before. I’m just so happy to win a title here.”

Radwanska’s time in New Haven has seen her also produced convincing wins over Jelena Ostapenko, Kirsten Flipkens and two-time champion Petra Kvitova. Against Kvitova, the Polish player dropped only two games. The run is certainly a massive confidence boost for Radwanska ahead of the final grand slam of the season.

“I was really feeling good this week,” She joyfully declared.
“Everything was working. I was feeling very confident on that court.”

The win in Connecticut has also made Radwanska the winner of the Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series women’s title, edging out Johanna Konta by 50 points. She sealed the prized with the help of her quarter-final appearance in Cincinnati. The title means that if the world No.4 wins the US Open, she would also receive a bonus of $1,000,000.

“It means it’s been a couple of good weeks,” she said. “I didn’t really know that I had chance to win that. I was really surprised myself when I find out (Friday) I can be No. 1 in that list, as well. So now it’s everything in my power to do good in the US Open. It will be worth it, right?”

In New York, Radwanska will start her campaign against qualifier Jessica Pegula. She is bidding to become the first Polish player in the modern era to win the US Open.
