Katie Boulter recorded one of the biggest wins of her career as she knocked out Elena Rybakina at Queen’s Club.

It was quite the day for Boulter who had to play two matches in one day as she started the day with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Jaqueline Cristian.

The Brit then had a tough quarter-final against former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina who knocked out defending champion Tatjana Maria 6-7(4) 7-5 6-0.

It was a battle which saw Boulter take the opening set before Rybakina came back strong in the second set.

In a match full of opportunities for both players, it was Boulter who broke towards the end of the match to secure a 7-5 2-6 6-4 victory.

In the match itself it was one of the biggest wins of Boulter’s career but it also meant much more than that for the Brit.

After being embarrassed by Rybakina at Wimbledon in the past, Boulter admitted this match goes along way to battling her demons at SW19, “I think my goal today was to play better than I did last time in Wimbledon,” Boulter told the WTA website.

“I felt like I really let the occasion get to me that time, and I wanted to prove to myself and also to other people that I’m a better tennis player than that match. That one scarred me a little bit, and I wanted to come out today and prove that I can swing and I can just go for it, because I didn’t let myself go for it in the last one.”

Boulter will now face Donna Vekic in the semi-finals after the former Wimbledon semi-finalist defeated Karolina Pliskova and Marie Bouzkova yesterday in a double header.

Iva Jovic is also into the semi-finals after the young American knocked out Amanda Anisimova in three sets.

Jovic will face either Emma Raducanu or Kamilla Rakhimova who will play their quarter-final on Saturday.

Raducanu defeated Sorana Cirstea in straight sets while Rakhimova knocked out Harriet Dart in a three hour battle.
