Sunday hosts the championship matches in both men’s singles and women’s doubles.

Jannik Sinner is just one match away from becoming the first man to ever win five Masters 1000 titles in  a row, surpassing a long-standing record held by Novak Djokovic.  With Carlos Alcaraz out indefinitely due to a wrist injury, Sinner is a favorite over the entire field to win every tournament he enters.  In Sunday’s final, he faces the No.2 seed Alexander Zverev, who is looking to establish himself as a viable No.2 player in the world in the absence of Alcaraz.

Sinner is now 29-2 on the year, and is on a 22-match winning streak.  At Masters events, he’s claimed his last 27 matches, and hasn’t lost a completed match at a Masters event since last May.  After dropping the first set in his opening match in Madrid, he’s won 10 consecutive sets, and only been pushed to one tiebreak.  Despite only being the reigning champion at one of the four Majors, Sinner has been utterly dominant on the ATP tour.

Zverev is 26-7 this season, and he’s dropped only two sets on the way to his first Masters 1000 final since 2024, after losing six Masters semifinals in a row.  This is also his first final at any level in over six months, as Sascha’s results tapered off over losing his third Major final at the 2025 Australian Open.  But he is a two-time former champion in Madrid, and is 7-5 in Masters finals, having won four of his last five.

Sinner is 8-4 in Masters finals, and as mentioned has won the last four.  Their head-to-head stands at 9-4 in the Italian’s favor, with Jannik winning the last eight times they’ve played.  And the last five of those victories have all been in straight sets, including just a few weeks ago in the Monte Carlo semifinals, where Zverev managed just five games.

To put it bluntly, Sinner is a huge favorite to win his first title in Madrid.  Zverev’s serve and backhand will have to be at their best on Sunday to give himself any real chance of rattling Sinner.
