Thursday features the last two men’s singles quarterfinals, as well as both women’s singles semifinals.
In a semifinal between two multi-time Rome champions, Iga Swiatek plays Elina Svitolina on Thursday night. Earlier in the day, last year’s runner-up, Coco Gauff, faces a Sorana Cirstea, who is playing the best tennis of her career in her last year on tour.
Plus, the ATP quarterfinals provide a battle between the sport’s two best redheads: Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev. And 2023 champ Danill Medvedev goes up against a lucky loser who has achieved a second Masters 1000 quarterfinal in as many appearances: Martin Landaluce.
Here’s a rundown of the most notable matches on Thursday (in chronological order, all times local):
Jannik Sinner (1) vs. Andrey Rublev (12) – 1:00pm on Campo Centrale

It just seems like no one is currently capable of competing with Jannik Sinner. He’s on a 26-match win streak, and has claimed 31 consecutive matches at Masters events, as he vies for a sixth consecutive Masters title. Sinner hasn’t dropped a set through three rounds. By contrast, this is a first Masters quarterfinal for Rublev in nearly a year, but he has advanced to six Masters finals in the past, winning two of them. And he has defeated Sinner three times before, including just two years ago at the Masters event in Canada. But overall Sinner leads their head-to-head 7-3, and a year ago at Roland Garros, he comfortably prevailed in straights.
Sorana Cirstea (26) vs. Coco Gauff (3) – Not Before 3:00pm on Campo Centrale
Gauff has survived a trio of three-setters to reach this semifinal. A round after saving match point against Iva Jovic, she outlasted Mirra Andreeva 6-4 in the third, in a dramatic affair. Meanwhile, Cirstea has lost only one set to this stage, as the 36-year-old is now 27-7 ahead of retiring at the end of this season, which is by far the best tour-level winning percentage of her 20-year career. Gauff has taken all three of their encounters, which includes a tight three-setter just two weeks ago in Madrid.
Martin Landaluce (LL) vs. Daniil Medvedev (7) – Not Before 7:00pm on Campo Centrale
Medvedev has pounced on an open part of the draw, where he received a walkover and has yet to face a top 50 player. However, while his opponent on Thursday is barely ranked inside the top 100, 20-year-old Landaluce has followed up on a surprising run to the Miami quarterfinals as a qualifier by repeating the feat in Rome as a lucky loser. The Spaniard’s offensive-minded style has helped him advance, as has his own kind draw, where he’s yet to face a seeded player. This will be a first-time meeting.
Iga Swiatek (4) vs. Elina Svitolina (7) – Not Before 8:30pm on Campo Centrale
Swiatek has gotten her mojo back. In the last three rounds, her opponents have averaged just over two games per match, and those opponents include Naomi Osaka and Jessica Pegula. Svitolina has been in great form all year, but her three-set victory over Elena Rybakina on Wednesday evening may have been her most impressive effort of 2026. Swiatek is 4-2 against Svitolina overall, and 2-0 on clay, with a straight-set win just last year in the Roland Garros quarterfinals. However, their last encounter went to Svitolina in three sets, which took place just two months ago at Indian Wells.
