Saturday features the championship matches in both women’s singles and men’s doubles.

Aryna Sabalenka is one match away from becoming the first WTA players to complete the “Sunshine Double” since Iga Swiatek in 2022.  But she first must overcome Coco Gauff, the player who has twice defeated Sabalenka in Major finals.

Saturday also hosts the championship match in men’s doubles, which sees Harri Heliovaara and Henri Patten (4) vs. Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori (7) at 12:30pm local time.  Heliovaara and Patten were the champions at the last Masters tournament they entered, which was last fall in Paris.  Bolelli and Vavassori are vying for the biggest title of their over three-year partnership, in their first Masters 1000 final as a team.

Sabalenka is now 22-1 on the year, and dating back to the WTA Finals in November, she has not lost to anyone except for Elena Rybakina.  I have highlighted this ahead of nearly every match Aryna has played in Miami, but it bears repeating: during 2026, she has claimed all 40 sets she has contested against players not named Rybakina.  And in Thursday’s semifinals, Sabalenka even managed to defeat Rybakina in straight sets.  Aryna is the defending champion in Miami, and with a victory would become the first player since 2022 to win the “Sunshine Double,” after winning Indian Wells two weeks ago.

Gauff is 16-5 this season, and this is her first final since October.  After struggling her way through her first four matches this fortnight, requiring three sets in all four, she played her best tennis in quite some time during the semifinals.  Coco defeated Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday, extending her record against Muchova to a perfect 6-0.  Gauff is 3-2 in WTA 1000 finals, and 11-3 in tour-level finals overall.

Their head-to-head is tied at 6-6, in what has been a back-and-forth rivalry dating back to 2020.  On hard courts, Sabalenka holds a narrow edge 5-4.  In finals, Gauff leads 2-1, which those two aforementioned victories in championship matches at Majors.  Coco came back from a set down at both the 2023 US Open and the 2025 French Open to deny Aryna those titles.

But as of today, Sabalenka is the far better player, as she has discovered a level of consistency that is currently unparalleled.  Her powerful game, and the amount of confidence she’s wielding, make Sabalenka a significant favorite in Saturday’s championship match.
