Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the ATP 500 event in Doha as he continues to plan his schedule out.

The Serb narrowly missed out on a record-shattering 25th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open after a four set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz.

After a landmark victory over Jannik Sinner, Djokovic couldn’t quite match Margaret Court’s record against the world number one.

That has given Djokovic plenty of thought as he prepares for his bid to continue at Roland Garros in May.

This means Djokovic has to carefully plan his schedule and as a result has withdrawn from next week’s ATP 500 event in Doha.

The event will still be headlined by both Alcaraz and Sinner with the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Bublik and Daniil Medvedev also participating in Qatar.

The defending champion in Doha next week is Andrey Rublev.

Berrettini Returns To Clay With Victory

Meanwhile, in Buenos Aires there was a successful return to the clay for Matteo Berrettini as he defeated Federico Coria 7-5 7-5.

The Italian played some vintage tennis as he played his first ATP tournament of the year after withdrawing from the Australian Open.

After the win Berrettini admitted he was happy with how his return to the court went, “I trained really hard to be able to come here,” the former Wimbledon finalist told the ATP website.

“I really wanted to come here in Buenos Aires. The atmosphere was really good. I think the match was a little bit up and down, but I’m happy because I am [back] playing.”

In the second round on Wednesday, Berrettini will take on Vit Kopriva with his projected quarter-final being either top seed Francisco Cerundolo or Hugo Dellien.
