Arthur Fils has announced that Goran Ivanisevic has joined his team for the 2026 season after he reached the quarter-finals in Doha.
The Frenchman had a frustrating 2025 season with injury at Roland Garros derailing his season but he is now back with authority.
After missing out on the Australian Open, Fils returned in Montpellier a couple of weeks ago and is now playing his third tournament of the year in Doha.
It’s going well so far for Fils as he edged past Kamil Majchrzak in the first round, the 21 year-old now defeated Quentin Halys 6-1 7-6(7) to book his place in the last eight.
In his mission to return to the world’s top 20 Fils has enlisted the help of Goran Ivanisevic to help him.
After his win in Doha the Frenchman explained his decision to hire Ivanisevic as part of his team, “Hell of a champion, winner of a slam and coached a lot of top guys,” Fils told the ATP website.
“So yeah he’s helping me during the season. I mean we’re going to try but I think it’s good for me, it’s maybe the best for me to have his experience as a coach and as a player. So very very happy that he joined us during this long journey.”
The former Wimbledon champion has coached Novak Djokovic before and had a brief spell as coach of Elena Rybakina.
Now, Ivanisevic hopes to help Fils recover his form and fitness from a long spell on the sidelines.
At the moment Fils is at 40 in the world and will be hoping to be seeded for this year’s Roland Garros.
Next up for Fils in Doha is Jiri Lehecka as the Frenchman looks to reach the semi-finals.
