Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Adelaide International ahead of his bid for a 25th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.
The Serb has had an eventful off-season with it being announced recently that he has left the PTPA.
It came ahead of Djokovic preparing to start his 2026 season in Adelaide next week ahead of the Australian Open.
However, Djokovic has announced he will not play the event where he won the title a few years ago.
Speaking on Instagram Djokovic apologised to his fans as he will now enter the Australian Open without playing a tournament, “To all my fans in Adelaide. Unfortunately I’m not quite physically ready to compete in the Adelaide International next week,” Djokovic explained on his Instagram story.
“It’s personally very disappointing to me as I have such great memories of winning the title there two years ago. I was really excited about returning as it truly felt like playing at home. My focus is now on my preparation for the Australian Open and I look forward to arriving in Melbourne soon and seeing all the tennis fans in Australia.”
The event will now be without a top ten player with the top seed set to be Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
