Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will face tough early round tests at the US Open against American opposition.

The pair are in the bottom half of the draw and could face each other in the semi-finals in a big showdown.

However, Alcaraz and Djokovic will have to get past Reilly Opelka and Learner Tien respectfully if they want to reach the second round.

Also in Alcaraz’s section of the draw awaits former champion Daniil Medvedev, who will face Benjamin Bonzi in a rematch of Wimbledon, as well as Toronto champion Ben Shelton.

Meanwhile, for Djokovic the likes of Alex Michelsen, Sebastian Korda, Frances Tiafoe and Joao Fonseca could await while last year’s finalist Taylor Fritz awaits in the quarter-finals.

The other blockbuster opening rounds in the bottom half of the draw see Jakub Mensik take on Nicolas Jarry while Jiri Lehecka faces Borna Coric in the opening round.

As for the top half of the draw, defending champion Jannik Sinner will begin his campaign against Vit Kopriva with in-form Australian Alexei Popyrin potentially awaiting in the second round.

A third round against Denis Shapovalov looks likely while Jack Draper could await in the quarter-finals in a rematch of last year’s semi-finals which Sinner won in straight sets.

Draper is making his first appearance on the tour since his second round Wimbledon exit to Marin Cilic and will begin against a qualifier or lucky loser.

The British number one could face Canadian rising start Gabriel Diallo in the third round while Lorenzo Musetti could await in the last 16.

In the second section of the draw, Alexander Zverev will begin his campaign against Alejandro Tabilo with Felix Auger-Aliassime potentially awaiting in the third round.

Meanwhile, Alex De Minaur will start his campaign against compatriot Christopher O’Connell with Stefanos Tsitsipas awaiting in the third round.

Play will begin on Sunday with the final taking place on the 7th of September.
