Madison Keys is bidding to become the first female singles player from America to win Indian Wells since 2001.
There isn’t any reason to suggest why Keys shouldn’t be the one to break the 24 year streak as the American is in confident form.
Speaking of streaks Keys is now on a 16 match winning streak following titles in Adelaide and the Australian Open.
It’s now a rematch of the Australian Open final with Aryna Sabalenka that could determine whether Keys makes American history in California.
Speaking ahead of her blockbuster semi-final Keys admitted she is in the most confident form of her career, “That’s probably something that you’ll never really forget,” Keys told the WTA website about her 16 match winning streak.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a streak this long, but obviously would like for it to go even further. Probably not. I think the reality of winning as many matches as I have this early in a season hasn’t ever really happened for me, so I think there is definitely a lot of just kind of confidence from all those wins under your belt.
“I think it kind of gives me the confidence to, in really tight situations, just continue to go for whatever I want to.”
Currently Sabalenka leads the head-to-head 4-2 but Keys won their most important meeting at the Australian Open final.
The match takes place at 01:00 GMT with the winner playing Iga Swiatek or Mirra Andreeva in the final.
