Madison Keys and Felix Auger-Aliassime gained last minute momentum towards the Australian Open by winning the title in Adelaide.
Keys was victorious with a 6-3 4-6 6-1 result over top seed Jessica Pegula as she claimed her second Adelaide title in four years.
After the match Keys spoke about playing in Adelaide, “I haven’t been back since 2022,” Keys told the WTA website.
“And I was lucky enough to lift the trophy then and now I’m back and I’m holding it once again, so I’m thinking I should just keep coming back to Adelaide. I clearly do well here.”
Keys will face Ann Li in the opening round in Melbourne on Tuesday while Pegula takes on Madison Joint on Monday.
Meanwhile on the men’s side Felix Auger-Aliassime claimed the title with a 6-3 3-6 6-1 win over Sebastian Korda.
The Canadian claimed his sixth career title in style as he cruised through the final set in Adelaide.
After the match Auger-Aliassime thanked his team for their support, “Most importantly, thank you to my team, my group, my dad. Thank you for everything. Thank you also to my family back home, my fiancée and her family,” the Canadian told the ATP website.
“It’s the best support you can have as a player. I enjoy working everyday with you all. Let’s push to have a great year.”
Auger-Aliassime will take on Jan-Lennard Struff in the opening round while Korda faces Slovakian qualifier Lukas Klein.
