Alexander Zverev has criticised ‘bad journalism’ as dismissing a recent story involving him and former coach Ivan Lendl as false.

The German has had all sorts of coaches in the past from Ivan Lendl to Juan Carlos Ferrero to David Ferrer.

However Zverev is now finding success with his dad as a coach with the German reaching his second Grand Slam final in 2024.

Although Zverev’s past coaching relationships are in the past, the world number two’s time with Ivan Lendl once again came into light where Zverev appeared to have made some negative comments about the former Grand Slam champion.

In the report Zverev had appeared to criticise how Lendl likes to talk about his dog and golf more than the actual tennis.

However in a post on his Instagram story Zverev dismissed the claims and criticised ‘bad journalism,’ “So apparently I gave an interview about my coaching relationship with Ivan Lendl recently, which is not true,” Zverev stated on his social media.

“In fact, I have not spoken to anyone from the press since my foundation event in Tannehof one day after Turin and I have not made ant comments about my coaching relationship with Ivan Lendl in more than five years.

“I understand that everybody is very bored right now because it is the off-season and not much is happening except a lot of hard work, but this shows once again that some stories have to be completely made up by very bad journalism to keep readers interested in made up drama.”

Zverev will now hope to refocus as he hopes to lead Germany to United Cup glory once again before competing at the Australian Open which starts on the 12th of January.
