The US Open has set another prize money record with this year’s tournament having a prize money purse of $75M.
Prize money in each round of the tournament has been increased with the overall sum being 15% more than 12 months ago. The winners of the singles tournaments will each earn $3.6M which is $600,000 more than what it was in 2023. At the other end of the spectrum, those who lose in the first round will receive $100,000 for the first time which represents a rise of 23%.
As for the doubles and mixed doubles, prize money has risen by 9% and 18% retrospectively. Although the difference in payment is still significant. Singles players who lose in the first round will earn the same money as those who reach the mixed doubles final.
The US Open will be the final Grand Slam of the season with the main draw starting on August 26th. Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic are the reigning champions.
