Jannik Sinner is staying cool about his title chances at Wimbledon following what has been a stellar first six months of the season.

The Italian 23-year-old enters the grass-court Grand Slam with four titles under his belt which is more than any other player on the ATP Tour so far this year. He claimed his maiden major title at the Australian Open before going on to win a 500 event in Rotterdam and then the Miami Masters. More recently, in Halle, he won his first-ever Tour-level event on the grass after beating Hubert Hurkacz in the final on Sunday.

It’s a little bit different this year in Wimbledon. I have one week to prepare in the best possible way,” Sinner said after his latest win.
“I’m going to London quite early. I’m going to rest a couple of days and then hopefully be ready.”

Since January only two players have beaten Sinner, who has won 38 out of his last 41 matches played. Carlos Alcaraz, who is the reigning Wimbledon champion, has done so on two different surfaces (clay and hardcourt). Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas scored a win in Monte Carlo.

Despite his recent record, the world No.1 is taking nothing for granted heading into The All England Club where he reached the semi-finals last 12 months ago. He is aiming to become the first player from his country – man or woman – to win the singles title.

“It has improved for sure but I think the general level has improved,” Sinner replied when asked about his game on grass.
“I serve a little bit better which helps a lot on this surface and trying to return a little bit more aggressive.
“I’m obviously happy about this year but Wimbledon is a different tournament. Let’s see what I can do.”

Sinner will learn his route to the Wimbledon title on Friday when the draw takes place at 10am local time. In what will be his fourth main draw appearance, he is the top seed in the men’s draw ahead of Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev. Djokovic is still entered in the event but he is yet to confirm his participation following knee surgery.
