Andrey Rublev claimed his second title of the season after defeating Casper Ruud 7-6(3) 6-0 to win the title in Bastad.
Rublev claimed his 18th win on clay for the year with a dominant performance against the Norwegian.
After edging out a tight opening set, Rublev cruised through the second set as he sealed the title in Bastad.
Speaking after the victory, Rublev praised his performance after sealing his 14th career ATP title, “It is always great to win a title,” Rublev told the ATP website.
“At the end of the day, we have to lose almost every week, so this is one of two titles this year. It is a special feeling and the final was played in tough conditions, but I was lucky to have them.
“Casper hits with spin a lot, to play high and with this weather the ball did not really jump high and I think it helped me a bit. On top of that I played really well today.”
The victory follows his maiden Masters 1000 title at Monte-Carlo back in April which was also on clay.
Rublev and Ruud will now head to Hamburg where they face Bernabe Zapata Miralles and Sebastian Baez respectively.
Another player who is in Hamburg next week for the ATP 500 event is Pedro Cachin and the Argentinian was the winner of the other ATP clay event this week.
Cachin edged out Albert Ramos-Vinolas 3-6 6-0 7-5 in the final of Gstaad to claim his maiden ATP title and will now head to Hamburg where he faces seventh seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in his opening match.
