World number one Carlos Alcaraz will miss the Nitto ATP Finals and the Davis Cup Finals due to an Abdominal injury.

The Spaniard suffered the injury during his quarter-final match with Holger Rune at the Rolex Paris Masters.

Alcaraz was forced to withdraw in the second set tiebreak as he was in pain and it was obvious it was a serious injury.

Those fears have been confirmed today by Alcaraz who revealed that he will be out of action for the next six weeks due to an abdominal injury.

As mentioned by Alcaraz on social media that means he will be unable to play the Nitto ATP Finals as well as the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.

It’s a disappointing end to what has been a remarkable season for the young Spaniard having become the youngest world number one in history as well as winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open.

As a result Taylor Fritz will now play the Nitto ATP Finals with Rafael Nadal set to be the top seed at the event in Turin, which starts on the 13th of November.
