Felix Auger Aliassime continued his winning ways beating the local favorite Gilles Simon in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 in one hour and 33 minutes.
The Montreal native hit 28 winners, served 11 aces and won 75% of his first serve points.
Simon had announced before the tournament that he was playing the last event of his career and had already surpassed expectations upsetting the world number 11 Taylor Fritz last night.
Today was a different story as he seemed out of sorts, fatgued and broken down and the Canadian took full advantage of it.
Auger Aliassime playing some of the best tennis of his career and looking for his 15th straight win got out a quick start overpowering the Frenchman and jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
At 4-1 the number eight seed managed to go up a double break and was able to serve out the first set with ease.
The second set was a much closer affair and with the French crowd cheering him on at every point Simon tried to fight back and the set stayed on serve until 4-3 when the Montreal native was able to get the crucial break and serve out the match.
After the match it was all about the farewell to Gilles Simon who had a career high ranking of number six and recorded wins against Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer.
Auger Aliassime even signed the camera with Merci Gillou meaning thank you and Gillou which was Simon nickname.
The Canadian is now in the quarterfinals and will face the American Frances Tiafoe who was able to beat the Aussie Alex De Minaur in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.
The number eight seed has officially qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin after Fritz loss last night.
