Botic Van De Zandschulp has continued his impressive form by defeating Andrey Rublev to reach the St. Petersburg semi-finals.

Whether it’s been challenger level, grand slams or the main tour, there has been no stopping Botic Van De Zandschulp recently.

The now world number 69 burst onto the main stage by reaching the US Open quarter-finals beating the likes of Casper Ruud and Diego Schwartzman.

This was his first grand slam main draw after having relatively consistent success at challenger level.

Now the Dutchman has continued that form as he is into the St. Petersburg semi-finals after defeating top seed Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-4.

Having not lost a set in Russia this week Van De Zandschulp now enters a semi-final match with Marin Cilic in confident form.

Speaking on-court after the match Van De Zandschulp describes the feeling as amazing to be in his first ATP tour semi-final, “First time in the semis. It feels amazing,” the 26 year-old proudly said to atptour.com.

“I played a great match, played a smart match, [and I am] so happy to be through. He [Cilic] made the final last week in Moscow. He’s playing great at the moment, and I think it’s going to be an interesting match.”

However as Van De Zandschulp rightly pointed out it won’t be an easy match as Marin Cilic is showing impressive form himself having reached the Moscow final.

The Croatian is also coming off two great wins against Karen Khachanov and Roberto Bautista Agut in St. Petersburg.

Their semi-final contest will be the first time they would have played each other. The winner will face the winner of the other semi-final between Taylor Fritz and Jan-Lennard Struff.
