Petra Kvitová has withdrawn from the Rogers Cup ahead of tonight’s draw as Serena Williams is now a top eight seed in Toronto.
Despite playing Wimbledon, the forearm injury is still a problem for the Czech Republican who has had to withdraw from next week’s Rogers Cup.
In a statement on the website of the tournament, Kvitová seemed frustrated at missing another tournament due to injury, “I’m so disappointed to have to withdraw from the Rogers Cup,” Kvitová explained.
“My forearm injury is continuing to cause some problems so, on the advice of my medical team, I have made the decision not to travel to Canada.”
I'm so disappointed to have to withdraw from @rogerscup 😔
My forearm injury is continuing to cause problems so, on the advice of my medical team, I won't make the trip to Canada.
I will really miss being in Toronto this year and wish the tournament every success 😘

Since winning the title in Stuttgart, Kvitová has struggled to back that up with consistent form as injuries once again prevent her from reaching the top of the game consistently.
The 29 year-old will hope to play Cincinnati, which will take place the week after the Rogers Cup as she searches for her third grand slam of her career at the US Open later this month.
As a result of Kvitová’s withdrawal, Serena Williams has been given a top eight seed ahead of the draw which takes place at 5pm local time.
This means that Serena won’t have to play a first round match as she will receive a BYE as she looks to win her first Rogers Cup since 2013.
Serena’s sister Venus Williams now has direct entry into the main draw in Toronto after initially been given a wildcard.
That wildcard has now gone to Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, who had missed Washington last week due to Visa problems.
The main draw in Toronto will begin on Monday as the best players in the World prepare for the US Open.
