Fernando Verdasco has denied Andy Murray’s claims that he was talking to his coach during his four set win over the Brit in the second round of the US Open.
The Brit made the claims after the third set, when during a 10 minute break from the heat, he explained to the umpire that Verdasco was talking to his coach. When Murray returned from his break he said to the umpire that the Spaniard was talking to the coach and that he was the only one who knew the rules.
The 31st seed went on to win in four sets to book his place into the third round and after the match the Spaniard denied the claims explaining that he was talking to Marcos Baghdatis and his coach, “I was in the ice bath with Marcos Baghdatis and his coach,” Verdasco explained. “I know exactly the rule and I don’t want to be the one breaking it.”
However the Brit remained firm on his claims stating that the US Open supervisors are the ones to blame for the error, “When I came out of the shower, his coach and one of the Spanish doubles players were in there chatting to him, and you’re not allowed to speak to your coach,” claimed the former US Open champion.
“I’m not blaming Fernando and his team. They certainly weren’t trying to break any rules. It shouldn’t be for the player that’s competing against him to have to go to the supervisor.”
The three time grand slam champion also joked on Twitter, that he needs to got the doctor as he is seeing things and used #liarliarpantsonfire at the end of his post.

The Spaniard will hope to avoid controversy on Friday when he takes on another former champion in Juan Martin Del Potro in the third round of the US Open.
