The Main Draw ceremony which took place in Madrid produced many fascinating match-ups in the first rounds.

In the top half of the draw Roger Federer, who is the top seed of the Madrid Mutua Open after Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal, could face Australian Open quarter finalist Nick Kyrgios, who has reached the semifinal in Estoril. In the third round the Swiss Maestro could face either Jeremy Chardy or John Isner in the third round.

Federer is on collision course with Tomas Berdych in the quarter finals. Berdych has showed his consistent form this year reaching the final in Doha, Rotterdam and Monte-Carlo and is currently second in the ATP Race to London behind Djokovic..

Federer beat Berdych in a three-set final in Madrid in 2012.

Federer could meet his Spanish rival Rafa Nadal in the semifinal. Nadal will start his title defence against a qualifier before meeting either Kevin Anderson or Bernard Tomic. Anderson will play in the first round against Italian Simone Bolelli. Nadal, who is bidding to win the Madrid title for the third consecutive year, is on collision course against the winner of the match between Stan Wawrinka and Grigor Dimitrov before the possible clash against Federer. The Bulgarian, who reached the quarter final in Monte-Carlo and the semifinal in Istanbul, could face US Donald Young and either Fabio Fognini or Santiago Giraldo.

In the bottom half David Ferrer was drawn  the third quarter of the draw with Tommy Robredo, Fernando Verdasco and Guillermo Garcia Lopez. They could battle for a spot in the third round against last year’s US Open Marin Cilic.

If Ferrer survives the first three rounds, he is on collision course for a possible quarter final clash against last year’s Madrid finalist Kei Nishikori who came close to winning this tournament last year before being hampered by a back injury in the third set. Nishikori won his second consecutive title in Barcelona last week.

Milos Raonic could face Nicolas Almagro and Feliciano Lopez before a possible clash against Andy Murray in the quarter finals. The Scotsman, who has returned this week after getting married to his longtime girlfriend Kim Sears, could face German Phillips Kohlschreiber in the second round before a possible clash against either Monte-Carlo semifinalist Gael Monfils or Martin Klizan
