Colombian tennis player Santiago Giraldo was disqualified amidst a crucial rubber at the Davis Cup after he allegedly walked off during the match last weekend, citing poor court conditions.
With the Colombians trailing hosts Chile 1-2 on Iquique’s outdoor clay courts, the onus was on the 150th-ranked Giraldo to keep the visitors in fray. However, while trailing 6-4 5-2 to Gonzalo Lama, the 28-year-old walked off the field in resentment after complaining of injury-prone conditions all through the contest, reports bolamarela.pt.

Consequently, Giraldo was disqualified from the match, conceding an unassailable 1-3 lead to Chile. This didn’t go down well with Giraldo as he returned to court only to be involved in a heated, animated discussion with the umpire. It, however, is unclear (in the video below) what the two conversed in the middle.
