Emma Raducanu secured her first win of the season in Hobart as she defeated Camila Osorio 6-3 7-6(2) in a match that went into a second day.

The contest started on Tuesday where Raducanu was in control but the top seed struggled to break the Colombian down on Wednesday.

Eventually the British number one secured a first round victory in straight sets to secure her first win of 2026.

The win comes after Raducanu lost to Maria Sakkari at the United Cup in what was her first match of the year.

Speaking after her win over Osorio Raducanu admitted she was happy that she adapted to different conditions throughout the contest, “It’s such a fine line between winning and losing a match like that,” Raducanu admitted to the WTA website.

“It was a very, very difficult match. We played under all conditions and coming on, coming off a few times, it was really difficult. I’m just really pleased with how I came out and turned it around and then stuck in during the tiebreak.”

It will be a win that will be a confidence booster to Raducanu who had to end her 2025 season early due to a foot injury.

Raducanu will now move straight into the quarter-finals after Magdalena Frech withdrew and will face Australian Taylah Preston in the last eight on Thursday.

Third seed Magda Linette and eighth seed Iva Jovic are also through but fourth seed Ann Li was knocked out by Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

All quarter-finals take place on Thursday with the event being a Saturday finish ahead of the Australian Open.
