Jack Draper, Joao Fonseca, Jakub Mensik and Valentin Vachero have been nominated for the Breakthrough of the Year in the 2025 ATP Awards.
Jack Draper won the biggest title of his career at the Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells beating Holger Rune 6-2 6-2 without facing a break point. Draper beat Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz en route to reaching the final.
The British player also reached the fourth round at the Australian Open and Roland Garros and two finals at Doha and Madrid. He moved from number 18 to a career-high number 4.
Jakub Mensik
Jakub Mensik beat world number 4 Taylor Fritz to reach his first Masters 1000 final in Miami, recording the biggest win of his career by ranking. Mensik beat his idol Novak Djokovic 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-4) in the title match.
Mensik started the season as the World number 48 and rose to a career-high of number 16 last August.
Joao Fonseca
Brazilian 18-year-old Joao Fonseca won the Next Gen Finals title in Jeddah in December 2024 and picked up where he left off at the start of the 2025 season when he won the ATP 250 title in Buenos Aires becoming the youngest South American player to win an ATP Tour title. Last October Fonseca won the Swiss Indoors title in Basel becoming the third youngest ATP 500 champion. He started the season outside the top 100 and finished the year at a career-high number 24.
Valentin Vacherot
Valentin Vacherot beat his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai becoming the lowest-ranked ATP Masters 1000 in history. The Monegasque started the tournament as a number 204-ranked qualifier with only a previous ATP Tour win in Monte-Carlo. Vacherot beat Laslo Djere, Alexander Bublik, Tomas Machac and Tallon Griekspoor to become the first player representing Monaco to reach a Masters 1000 quarter final. He went on to beat Holger Rune in the quarter final and four-time Shanghai champion Novak Djokovic to reach the final.
Vacherot earned 1020 points in this tournament to move to world number 40. He reached the quarter final at the Paris Masters 1000 to end the season with a career-high World number 30.
