Carlos Alcaraz is set to play Novak Djokovic in the round-robin stage at the Nitto ATP Finals as the draw is set.
The Spaniard is in a race with Jannik Sinner to end the year world number one after the Italian stole the ranking back at the Paris Rolex Masters.
However, Alcaraz will start the tournament as world number one with Sinner having title points to defend in Turin.
Now, Alcaraz is searching for the title at the Nitto ATP Finals but it won’t be easy as indoor hard courts are his worst surface.
First up for Alcaraz in the Jimmy Connors Group will be Alex De Minaur while his other potential opponents are Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz.
It is still unclear whether Djokovic will play in Turin as he is currently competing at the ATP 250 event in Athens and has refused to commit to the event.
Meanwhile in Bjorn Borg Group, Sinner will begin his campaign against either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Lorenzo Musetti with the Italian pushing for qualification in Athens this week.
Also awaiting Sinner in Turin will be Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton with the second seed set to meet Zverev for a third consecutive tournament.
Sinner narrowly defeated the German in Vienna to win the title before edging past Zverev in the French capital.
The Nitto ATP Finals will begin on Sunday with Alcaraz’s group likely to start proceedings although that is still to be determined.
