Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Bublik 6-4 6-4 in 1 hour and 16 minutes to reach the semifinals at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. Sinner is chasing his second title in Vienna.
Sinner beat Bublik for the sixth time in eight head-to-head matches, but the Kazakh player beat his Italian opponent in Halle last June.
Sinner converted two of his eight break points and won 20 points more than Bublik. The Italian star dropped two points in his games in the first set.
Bublik faced two break points in the first game, but he saved them. The Kazakh player fended off three more break points at 1-1. Both players held on their serve until 3-3. Sinner earned the first break of the match in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. Sinner held at love in the eighth game for 5-3 and served out the first set with a hold at 15 in the 10thgame after 37 minutes.
