Amanda Anisimova is into her first China Open final after the American only lost three games against defending champion Coco Gauff.
It has been a very good week in an impressive season for Anisimova who booked her place in the WTA Finals earlier this year.
That has been followed up by Anisimova reaching the China Open final in Beijing and she did it in style by thrashing defending champion Coco Gauff.
Only three games were dropped by Anisimova as she broke on five occasions to secure her place in the final.
After the match Anisimova admitted she is excited to be in the final in Beijing, “I was just excited to play here in my first semifinal,” Anisimova told the WTA website.
“I was able to put on a really good performance, and I knew I was going to have to play very well against Coco if I wanted to get the win, and yeah, I’m really excited to be in the final. I love playing here.
“The crowd support has been so amazing since the first day that I got here, and I really think that’s carried me through this entire tournament. So hopefully everyone can come out and support me again in the final.”
Now Anisimova will be hoping to win her second title of the season after claiming her first in Doha earlier this year.
In the final Anisimova will either face Jessica Pegula or Linda Noskova who have both had incredible weeks so far.
