Jack Draper has been forced to end his 2025 season due to an ongoing injury, which resulted in his withdrawal from the US Open at the end of last month.
The British No.1 has been sidelined from the Tour due to a left arm injury. In recent weeks, he has been affected by a bruised humerus, which is the bone that runs from the shoulder to the elbow. After Wimbledon, Draper pulled out of the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open in the hope he would be fit in time for the last Grand Slam of 2025. However, he only played one match in New York before pulling out of the tournament.
“Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025,” Draper announced on his Instagram account.
“It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff. However I’ve been through this before..and I always come back stronger as I’m so motivated to fulfil my potential as a player. “
It is a bitter pill for Draper to swallow during what has been a highly successful year. In March, he won the biggest title of his career at the Indian Wells Masters, beating Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2, in the final. He was also runner-up at the Madrid Masters to Casper Ruud and at the Doha Open to Andrey Rublev.
In May, he broke into the world’s top five for the first time. A milestone that has only been achieved by three other British men since the PIF ATP Rankings system was created in 1973. He is currently ranked No.7 in the standings.
Draper ends his season with a win-loss record of 30-9. Two of those victories were over top 10 players, Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz, whom he beat in Indian Wells.
Among the events he will be missing are two Masters 1000 tournaments in Shanghai and Paris, as well as the Vienna Open, which he won in 2024. Draper was also in contention to qualify for the end-of-season ATP Finals.
