Coco Gauff has remained persistent and determined ahead of her Indian Wells campaign as she looks to turn her form around.
The American entered 2025 with momentum on her side having won the WTA Finals to end the 2024 season.
Gauff continued that momentum into the Australian Open as she reached the quarter-finals before losing in two tight sets to Paula Badosa.
However, since then Gauff has suffered back-to-back defeats in Doha and Dubai as she hopes to regain her form at Indian Wells.
Speaking about her dip in form Gauff is remaining persistent and calm as she adds perspective on her on-court struggles, “Everybody makes a bigger deal than what it is, I lost two matches. Everyone is, like, `Oh, she’s sinking.’ OK, we’ve been through this. I’ll pick it back up,” Gauff told the WTA website.
“But at the end of the day, yeah, I was upset that I lost, but it’s a loss. It’s going to happen again. I’m going to lose back-to-back again. Hopefully it doesn’t happen too many times in my career.
“I’m only 20 years old, going to be 21 next week. It would be kind of silly for me to think [losing back-to-back matches] won’t happen to me again if I’m going to be out here hopefully at least 10 more years.
“It’s just one of those things that you just move on and get better. The results will come.”
Gauff will be hoping to repeat her heroics from last year’s event where she reached the semi-finals before losing to Maria Sakkari.
First up for Gauff will be Moyuka Uchijima after she defeated Emma Raducanu in the first round.
