Aryna Sabalenka downed Coco Gauff 1-6 6-4 6-4 to reach her third consecutive Wuhan final.
The US Open champion is into her third consecutive final in China after ending the American’s nine match winning streak.
Sabalenka was outplayed in the opening set as Gauff played some terrific tennis, continuing on from her run to the title in Beijing.
However the American couldn’t continue her confident form as she hit 20 double faults to allow Sabalenka back into the match.
After Gauff took a 4-2 lead in the second set, Sabalenka produced some clutch tennis as she broke on two consecutive occasions to take the second set and force a decider.
The three-time Grand Slam champion continued the momentum in the third set by breaking for a 2-0 lead and then holding in a very long third game, saving three break points.
Both players had break point opportunities after that and Gauff capitalised on some passive points from Sabalenka to break back in the seventh game.
However Gauff couldn’t sustain her power and ferociousness as Sabalenka broke on her second opportunity for the match and reach a third consecutive Wuhan final.
It means Sabalenka now has a 16-0 record in Wuhan and will aim to win a fourth title this season with the world number two also a win away from winning two WTA 1000 titles in a single season for the first time in her career.
Sabalenka will now play either Qinwen Zheng or Xinyu Wang in the final on Sunday.
A win on Sunday would mean Sabalenka will trail Iga Swiatek by 69 points in the race for world number one.
